My images
I chose this image because i like how it is focused on the type, however it has a different background behind it. I took this image at an angle to capture the wire fence and trees behind it aswell as the type.
I took this image looking up at it, i did this simply because the sign is important and needed hierachy, therefore i panned the camera up at it to make it seem important.
I like the angle i have taken from this image, it makes it seem like i am looking up at Dunstable. I like how the font is Serif, this makes it seem more formal because it is a welcome sign.
I like the way that this text has been capitalised, this shows its importance, as it is a sign telling people where they are.
I like how i have panned this photo up slightly. However i dislike how the type has been right alligned and then the type at the bottom has been center alligned. This isn't very easy to the eye and your eye is immediately drawn to the 'At any time' which may be confusing.
I like this photo because of the wide range of colours, i have caught the scenery surrounded the type.
I like this graphitti because it has been done as a warning, i took the image from the side, making it look like the type is getting bigger.
I like how this text has been capitalised to show it's importance.
Again with this image i have panned it to the side to make it seem like it is getting bigger, this gives the text a different effect.
I like this image because it is the postcode for Dunstable, therefore it would be good to put into my calender.
I really like the font of this, because it looks slightly serif however it is sans serif.
I like how this type has been capitalised to show its importance.

Robert Brownjohn experimentation
Using Photoshop, i changed the type to red. I think this makes it stand out alot more and it looks modern. I really like it against the black and white picture, it sort of gives it a spooky effect and the bright red gives out a feel that it is quite scary and eary.

London Typographica
"London Typographica is aimed at type and lettering enthusiasts in London. Our aim is to photographically record publicly available lettering and type throughout the capital. London is an ever changing city, and we are losing many examples of its typographic history. London Typographica is here to try and document this, all in one place." I think this might of been inspired by Brownjohn's work due to the fact that they have used different typefaces in one sentence just like he did with his shop sign for 'The Vitners Liqueurs'.
I like this typography because it fits the name well because the script style font gives an elegant feel. I like how even though the font has got a lot going on, i think they have used a bold font to make it stand out and still easy to read from a distance.
I think this type has been inspired by Brownjohn's work because it has been hand drawn and so looks quite messy, however it sends out a message.
I really like the graffiti typography, it's really eye catching even though its in white, the black outline makes it looks 3D and interesting. I love how the main words are in bold capital letters and the rest have been made smaller and been put in a different font, it gives it depth and draws your eye to it. I also find that when reading a sentence on a building, you get bored after a while and don't want to finish reading, however this makes you want to carry on reading it because of the different sizes and fonts.
I like this typography because it's in a very informal font, it has been centered quite far apart, which makes the types meaning stand out and it separates the words. It reminds me of Robert brownjohns 'No Parking' because of the way that it looks, however a different sans serif font has been used, it also has quite a thick stroke so that it is easy to read and bold.
I really like this Graffiti because it's been done in a 'bubble writing' style. It looks 3D and stands out with the white/black against the blue background. I also like how some of the lettering overlap, this gives it a cosy feel somehow, like the town is quite friendly? This may have been inspired by Brownjohn's 'Dirty dirt' piece of work, because it has been done by hand and is there to send out a message.
I like this type because it has been placed where it is quite hidden and they have used a colour that blends in with the surroundings although it draws your eye to it because of the bold, thick stroked font that has been distorted slightly to look like it is slanted and also i love how the type has been made so that each letter gets bigger each time however it still looks neat and pleasing to the eye.

I like this because the type
is so easy to read as it is in capital letters and has been kerned quite a lot.
It has been centered and this makes it easy to the eye. I like how this
photograph has been taken to make it look like someone has ignored the sign
because of the bottle, i also like how the image is slightly slanted and taken
from a person standing over it’s view point.
I like the way that the type
has been set out here, the first word has been made italic and in the second
word the letters have been made to like they are distorted/falling, with the
third word having not been touched. They have also used a serif’d font to make
it look appealing to the audience. I like this because it is interesting and
makes it less bland to look at, it catches your eye and makes you want to read
it because there are different types of typography all in one sentence. I like
how this image has been taken to really emphasise the typography, if they
wanted to show off the shop they would of moved the lens down, however this
image really focus’s on the name of the shop.
I really love how this
typography is sketchy, and looks handwritten. It has also been made to look
like someone has drawn it on the window with their fingers because of the dirt
and this reflects the name. I like the way this image has been taken at a slant
to make it look quite grungy and not perfectly done as the name is ‘dirty’ the
photography kind of emphasizes this.
This makes good street signage due to the easy
to read font and how it is all in capitals. It has been nicely centered with
white text on a black background, which makes it easy to read. I like how the photography is mainly about
the signage, with the wall behind it gives it a sense of depth.
This signage is also very
easy to read because it has been done in capital letters with just the right
amount of kerning
and it has been well aligned
to fit on the sign. I like the angle that this shot has been taken in because
it kind of looks like you’re about to go down the street/look down it. It has
an E.II at the end, i’m not sure why it has this but it might be part of the
postcode.
I really like the typography
on this, i love how it has serif’d but it has been done differently and it
looks really nice because of the decorative script style font. I like how they have aligned it
so that the words aren’t on just one line, putting them on two lines makes them
alot easier to read and makes it easier for them to sit in such a small place.
I also like how it looks a bit like handwriting, it has been cleverly done to
look like this however still looks sophisticated. I also like how they have
used the tail of the ‘g’ to make it looks like it is underlining the text.
